Notice of Election - Presidential Preference Primary

PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY Tuesday, March 3, 2020 The Carroll County Election Commission gives notice of the Presidential Preference Primary Election, which shall be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at all precincts for the purpose of voting a preference for a presidential candidate of each political party and delegate candidates for the national conventions. To qualify as a candidate for President, a nominating petition must be filed by December 3, 2019, 12 p.m. CST. To qualify as a candidate for Delegate, a nominating petition must be filed by December 12, 2019, 12 p.m. CST. All candidates must file with the Tennessee Secretary of State, 615-741-7956. In conjunction with the PPP, the County Democratic Party has called a primary election for all 24th Judicial District Offices appearing on the August 2020 General Election ballot. The deadline to register to vote for this election is Monday, February 3, 2020 . The Election Office is located at the Carroll County Office Complex, 625 High St, Suite 113, Huntingdon, TN 38344. The office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. State law requires voters to have photo identification when they present themselves to vote. This includes early voting at the election office and voting on Election Day at the polling place. Notice to the Voter with a Disability and the Elderly Persons who are elderly or voters with a disability who believe their polling places are inaccessible are encouraged to vote early by mail or may vote at the election office on Election Day. Voters intending to vote at the election office on Election Day must notify the office in writing no later than February 22, 2020. TCA 2-3-109(2)(A) Notice of Write-In Votes Counted A person who desires to have write-in votes counted in his/her name must file a Certificate of Write-In Candidacy by 12 p.m., fifty (50) days before the election in the appropriate jurisdictions (TCA 2-7-133(i), which will be January 13, 2020 12 p.m. The Election Commission Office does not discriminate based on disability.
