When the Gibson County girls basketball team was eliminated in the Class 2A semifinals on March 11, most Lady Pioneer fans didn’t know it at the time, but it marked the end of an era. Around one week later, head coach Mitch Wilkins announced that he was retiring to his team after 14 years at Gibson County.

LINDEN (February 28) —- Perry County High School hosted Clarksburg Saturday to open the Region 6-1A Boys Basketball Tournament. The Rockets trailed by just two points at the half, but the Vikings pulled away in the third for a 49-36 win. The loss ends Clarksburg’s season.

WAYNESBORO (February 27) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers and Tigers traveled to Wayne County High School Friday for quarterfinals in their respective Region 6-1A Basketball tournaments. The host Lady Wildcats pulled away early for a 60-30 win, and the Wildcats followed suit for a 77-32 victory. The losses ended the season for both Central teams.
