HUNTINGDON — Mrs. Clara Dean Wesche Maddox died on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her home at the age of 92.

Funeral services are at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Clark Cemetery. Brother Tim Atkins of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. In addition, her grandchildren will participate in the service.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Braden Maddox, Austin Maddox, McCord Maddox, Andrew Maddox, Jeremy Newsome, Mark Newsome, Adam Maddox and Ethan Maddox.

Mrs. Maddox was born on Tuesday, September 26, 1933, to the late James W. Wesche and wife, Annette Applebury Wesche in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Messick High School in Memphis and attended Memphis State University, where she met her husband, the late Dwayne “D.D.” Maddox, Jr. They made their home in Huntingdon, Tennessee, where she was a devoted wife for forty eight (48) years and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by a son, Webster Poe “Web” Maddox; a grandson, Kirk Maddox, and a son-in-law, Timothy Newsome.

She is survived by a son, Dwayne (Gena) D. “Butch” Maddox, III; a daughter, Jean Annette Newsome; a son, Matthew (Angie) Marshall Maddox; a daughter-in-law, Julia Ann Maddox; nine (9) grandchildren, Braden (Cayce) Maddox, Austin Maddox, McCord (Holly) Maddox, Rachel (Lyle) Maddox Holmes, Andrew (Meagen) Maddox, Jeremy (Shahreen) Newsome, Mark (Angel) Newsome, Adam (Michelle) Maddox and Ethan Maddox; sixteen (16) great-grandchildren, Cameron Maddox, Nora Maddox, Scout Maddox, Sloan Maddox, Maddox Holmes, Miller Holmes, Maley Holmes, Bryce Maddox, Grey Maddox, Eliza Poe Maddox, Nolan Newsome, Baylor Newsome, Asher Newsome, Aiden Newsome, Gavin Maddox and Juliet Maddox.

Memorials may be made to the D.D. Maddox Football Scholarship Foundation or the Web Maddox Baseball Scholarship Foundation, both located at Carroll Bank and Trust, 19510 East Main Street, Huntingdon, Tennessee 38344. Otherwise, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
