McKENZIE, Tenn. —  A memorial service for Janet Sue Matheny is Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Long Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Matheny, 83 years old, died at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on January 22, 1943, to Frederick and Katherine Travis Heminger.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte (Jerry) Burcham of McKenzie, Curtis (Cindy) Jones of Milan, Eric Matheny of McKenzie, Terri Matheny of Oklahoma, one sister, Sharon Rose of Uniondale, Indiana, nine grandchildren, Brandi (Dennis) Adkins, Stacy (Jacob) Harwell, Courtney Jones, Ryan (Yaritze) Jones, Brittany King, Meagan Williamson, Sara Matheny, Madison Pyle, and Lindsey Richardson, and 21 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy Mathney, her sister, Doris Smith, her brothers Richard Strasburg, Donald Strasburg, Roger Strasburg, and Ernest Strasburg, and a granddaughter, Shelby Barksdale.
