Dr. J.B. Johnsonius, DDS, 1950 - 2025

Paris, Tenn. — Dr. J B Johnsonius, Jr., age 74, of Paris, died at his residence on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Dr. Johnsonius was born on September 25, 1950, in McKenzie, Tenn., to the late J B Johnsonius, Sr. and to the late Ruth Skellion Johnsonius.

On September 21, 1974, J.B. married Jenny Ross Johnsonius, who survives, of Paris.

Dr. J B Johnsonius was a man of Presbyterian faith and a proud graduate of McKenzie High School, Class of 1968. He earned his dental degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1974 and faithfully served the Paris and McKenzie communities as a dentist for 50 years, retiring in 2024 due to health concerns.

A dedicated professional, he was an active member of both the Tennessee Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Outside of his career, Dr. Johnsonius was an avid reader and book collector. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, photography, restoring vintage cameras, and traveling with his family.

Along with his wife, Dr. Johnsonius is survived by two daughters, Jill Johnsonius (Dennis) Krabill of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Natalie Johnsonius (David) Neubert of Lenox, MA; two sisters, Victoria (George) Hatcher of San Antonio, Texas, and Teresa (Loyd) Ford of Calvert City, KY; one brother, Hoppy (Kim) Johnsonius of McKenzie, Tenn.; one brother-in-law, Billy (Diane) Ross of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Craig Johnsonius Neubert, and Rose Johnsonius Neubert both of Lenox, MA; his Havanese dog, Rip Johnsonius; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, Tenn., 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home and again on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. His funeral service was at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2025,  with Joy Weathersbee, Billy Ross, and Steve Gallimore officiating.

Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Paris with David Neubert, Craig Neubert, Dennis Krabill, Jeff Morris, David Travis, Hoppy Johnsonius, and Jeff Loines serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203 or to The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, PO Box 290369, Nashville, TN 37229-0369.
