Joe Russell Shooter, 1946 — 2025

Joe Russell Shooter, formerly of McKenzie, Tenn., died on November 13, 2025, with family by his side at The Arbors in Union City, Tenn.
Joe was born on July 29, 1946 in Lumberton, North Carolina. The son of the late Iola Shooter Corbin and Walter H. Shooter. He grew up in McKenzie, Tenn. and graduated from McKenzie High School. He attended Bethel College and graduated from UT Health Sciences Center in Memphis as a Medical Technologist. He worked at William F. Bowld Hospital and retired from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital after a 50-year career in the medical field. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Senatobia, Mississippi.
Joe will be remembered for his dedication as a Christian father to his daughter, Mary, who was the light of his life.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park - East in Memphis, Tenn. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation for family is at 12:30 p.m. and for friends from 1-2 p.m.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Shooter of Union City, Tenn.; two sisters, Becky Scates and Tenia King (Jimmy) of McKenzie, Tenn.; three nieces, Jennifer Clay (Cary), and Cheryl King of Nashville, Tenn., Amber Fern (Micah) of Searcy, AR, nephews Jeff Wilson and David King (Jeri Lynn) of McKenzie, Tenn.; Mother-in-law Gerry Holliday, Brother-in-law, George Holliday, Sister-in-law Geri Lynn Jewell (Trey and Erin), all of Memphis, Tenn.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, his father-in-law, George Holliday and brother-in-law, Larry Holliday all of Memphis, Tenn.
Joe will be sadly missed by other family members, friends, and caretakers.
