From the Oct 14, 2025 e-EditionDriving on Suspended License, Reckless Driving — According to a report made on Sept. 25, Officer Malachi Arline observed a 2013 Hyundai Elantra traveling 77 mph in a 45-mph zone on Lexington Street. The driver, Marcus A. Moore, 34, was stopped in the parking lot of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. A check with dispatch showed Moore’s license was suspended for failure to appear in Bruceton City Court. He was cited for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, first offense, and given 10 days to report to Carroll County Jail for booking and a court date.
Driving on Suspended License, Expired Registration — According to a report made on Sept. 25, Officer Malachi Arline stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado displaying expired registration at the intersection of Veterans Drive North and West Main Street. The driver, Leonard C. Smith, 63, stated he was unaware the registration had expired in June. A license check revealed Smith’s license was suspended out of Madison County for failure to pay fines. Smith was cited for driving on a suspended license and expired registration and given 10 days to report to Carroll County Jail for booking and a court date.
Public Intoxication — According to a report made on Sept. 25, Officer Dexter Richardson responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon regarding an intoxicated individual in the emergency room. Officer Richardson located Terri Pinkley, 61, who was unsteady on her feet, smelled strongly of alcohol, and spoke with slurred speech. Pinkley admitted to consuming alcohol and was arrested for public intoxication. She was transported to Carroll County Jail, and bond was set at $500.
Theft by Scam (Under Investigation) — According to a report made on Sept. 25, Officer Brad Allen took a complaint from a man who reported losing more than $23,000 in an online scam. The victim stated he met a woman online identifying herself as “Laura Martinez,” a Navy lieutenant from Jackson, Mississippi. The woman mailed him a checkbook from a Kansas bank bearing his name and instructed him to write checks on the account and convert the funds into bitcoin to send to her.
The victim said he sent several payments between Sept. 17 and Sept. 20 totaling $23,027.47 through a bitcoin machine at Huck’s in Huntingdon. The woman later claimed she had been shot and requested more money. When the victim contacted the bank, he learned that the checkbook and account were fraudulent and that he now owed the bank approximately $23,600. The case remains under investigation.
