From the May 12, 2026 e-EditionFraudulent Use of a Debit Card — On May 2, Deputy Kenny Tucker responded to a report of unauthorized debit card use and spoke with a complainant who reported her debit card had been used without permission.
The complainant advised that the card was used at Kroger in Lakeland/Memphis for a total of $1,603.92. She stated she did not authorize the transaction and was unaware of who may have used her card.
Deputy Tucker contacted the business and spoke with a store manager, who confirmed the transaction and advised that surveillance footage captured an individual using the debit card along with the correct personal identification number during the purchase.
The manager stated the footage would be reviewed further, and a copy would be provided to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.

Theft of Property — On May 2, Sgt. Bongiovanni responded to a report of theft at the BP Gas Station on Main Street in Atwood and made contact with the complainant, who advised that merchandise had been taken from a recent shipment.
The complainant, the owner of the business, stated he had received a bulk order of merchandise and, while conducting inventory, discovered one box missing. The box contained ten individual packages of Kratom with a total value of approximately $399.90.
After reviewing surveillance footage from inside the business, the complainant observed an employee carrying the shipment into an office area. While inside, the individual was seen removing one box from the larger shipment and concealing it in her waistband before exiting the room.
The individual was identified as Angela Hartsock, 47, of Milan. After reviewing the footage along with a driver’s license photo and prior booking photo, deputies confirmed the individual in the video was Hartsock.
Hartsock was charged with theft of property under $1,000.

Simple Possession of Schedule II — On May 3, Sgt. Bongiovanni observed a vehicle traveling on Brooks Road in Atwood that failed to maintain its lane and did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Brooks Road and Bryant Road. A traffic stop was conducted.
Upon contact, the driver displayed unusually nervous behavior and began making unrelated statements about his travel plans. The driver also advised that his passenger was involved in a substance abuse recovery program and continued speaking about the program without being prompted.
A passenger was identified as Tracy Forrest, 50, of Bradford. Both occupants consented to a search of the vehicle and their persons.
During the search, deputies located a torn plastic bag inside Forrest’s wallet containing approximately 1.2 grams of a white crystalline substance. Another folded piece of paper inside the wallet contained additional residue consistent with a substance scraped from a pipe. Forrest stated he had forgotten the bag was in his wallet and admitted the residue had come from a pipe.
Both substances field tested positive for methamphetamine. No other illegal items were located inside the vehicle or on the driver.
Forrest was taken into custody and charged with simple possession of Schedule II methamphetamine. The driver was issued a warning citation and released.

Theft from Building — On April 29, Deputy Flaurr responded to a report of theft at a storage facility on Highway 22 in Huntingdon and spoke with a complainant regarding missing property from a storage unit.
The complainant reported that multiple items were missing, including a bed frame, an electric bed, bedding, and golf clubs and accessories, with an estimated combined value of approximately $6,500.
The complainant advised the unit did not have a lock at the time and had not been checked since February. It was also noted that the facility uses a universal gate code and that surveillance cameras do not cover all units, including the affected unit.
No suspects were identified at the time of the report.
