From the Nov 19, 2024 e-EditionDriving on Revoked License — Scott Alan Johnson, 44, Sunrise Avenue, Nashville was charged with Driving on a Revoked License and Violation of Financial Responsibility on November 14.
Officer Timothy Dillon responded to a motorcycle crash at Highland Drive and State Route 22 intersection.
Johnson said he hit loose gravel, which caused him to lose control of the motorcycle. A check of his license revealed it had been revoked due to a DUI conviction. Johnson completed the field sobriety test administered by Officer Dillon.
The motorcycle was seized and Johnson was arrested for Driving on a Revoked License - Second Offense and Violation of Financial Responsibility. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Driving on Suspended License — Kevon Marcellus Keaton, 24, Millington, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License on November 12.
Officer Dustin McClure observed Keaton in the driver’s seat of a vehicle as it left a convenience store. Officer McClure was aware of Keaton’s license status and initiated a traffic stop. Keaton admitted the suspended status and was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
Sale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance — Two females face charges following a traffic stop on November 11.
Officer Dustin McClure made a traffic stop on a Kia for too dark windows.
The driver, Stephanie J. Parker said she was driving the owner of the car, Tammy Teeter, 59, Radford Lake Road, Henry.
When the officer checked with the dispatcher about information on the subjects, the officer reported he could see them nervously moving inside the vehicle.
The officer asked if he could search the vehicle. The driver said yes and the passenger (owner) said no. Sergeant Cody Coleman and his k9 Toby were summoned. Toby made a positive hit on the vehicle, permitting the search. Four pills of Methanone and three pills of Oxycodone were located. The prescription indicated that the oxycodone that 117 pills were unaccounted for in a seven-day period. Teeter stated the pills were in a trailer she had just purchased.
Cash in the amount of $2,146 was wrapped in rubber bands.
Officer McClure reported that Teeter’s phone received many messages during the traffic stop. Teeter denied access to the phone. A search warrant was requested to search the phone for possible illegal drug sales.
Teeter was charged with Possession of Schedule II Drugs with Intent. The phone, car, and cash were seized.
Parker was issued a citation for Display of Plates, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Window Tint Violation.
Violation of Probation — Christopher William Copeland, 28, Blooming Grove Road, McKenzie, was charged with Violation of Probation after the officer observed the vehicle’s expired registration.
Officer Dustin McClure witnessed Copeland’s vehicle had expired tags and made a traffic stop on Highland Drive. A check of Copeland’s license revealed an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation from Henry County. Copeland was arrested and transferred to the custody of Henry County deputies.
Two Charged with Drugs During Traffic Stop — Violet Cook, 26, Hopkinsville, Ky., and Everine Sykes, 46, of Grenada, Miss., were both charged with Simple Possession during a traffic stop on November 11.
Officer Dustin McClure witnessed a Honda Pilot make a U-turn as the car approached a traffic stop of another vehicle on State Route 22.
McClure followed the vehicle and then passed it, noticing one headlight not working. He stopped the vehicle.
The driver, Everine Sykes was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail. She was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Simple Possession of Schedule 5 Drugs, and Light Law Violation.
Cook was charged with Simple Possession and cited into Carroll County Jail for booking.
The report indicates the officer could smell marijuana as he conducted the traffic stop. Both indicated they had been around someone smoking marijuana. A search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of 11 pills and four grams of marijuana. Sykes claimed ownership of the pills and Cook claimed ownership of the marijuana.
Driving on Suspended License — Juan Manuel Perez-Cardoza, 21, May Street, McKenzie was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Failure to Observe a Stop Sign and Speeding on November 15.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Cardoza’s vehicle for failure to yield at a stop sign and speeding. The driver was cited into Carroll County Jail for booking.
Domestic Assault — Rodger Dale Lawson, 35, Florida Avenue, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault of a family member on November 17.
Officer Bryan Batchelder responded to the residence, where a female claimed Lawson had thrown a purse at her and was provoking her verbally. Lawson was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Criminal Trespass — Maurice Lawrence, 31, listed as homeless, McKenzie, was arrested for Criminal Trespass on November 14.
Assistant Chief Trey Boucher observed Lawrence in the parking lot of Pocket’s Convenience Store and knew of an order to ban him from the business. Lawrence, who is frequently arrested for trespassing, was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Simple Possession — Chase A. Freeman, 19, Paris, was charged with Simple Possession of Schedule 6 and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after a traffic stop on November 17 just after midnight.
Officer Darren Davis made a traffic stop on a vehicle with window tint darker than allowed. The officer smellled marijuana smoke as he approached and asked the occupants about drugs. Freeman, a rear-seat passenger in his own vehicle, handed over glass jar containing a plastic bag with approximately seven grams of what is believed to be marijuana. All occupants were asked to exit the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle. Freeman admitted the contents were his.
The lone licensed driver in the vehicle was Freeman. The vehicle was left parked at a convenience store. Freeman was cited into Carroll County Jail for booking.
