From the Apr 16, 2024 e-EditionSale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance — A juvenile male faces charges of Sale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Driving on a Suspended License, Illegal Window Tint, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after a traffic stop on April 9.
Officers Jason Artymovich and Dillon participated in the arrest of the juvenile. MPD received a call about a Nissan Altima entering McKenzie at a high rate of speed. The suspect car was stopped at the Relax Inn. The suspect exited the car and was told to stand beside the patrol car. A check of his license revealed a suspended status for failure to appear in courts in Carroll and Henry counties. The suspect handed a bag of 19 pills to Officer Dillon. There were five more in a plastic baggie in the suspect’s sock. Officers located a grinder, marijuana vape, a white powder. The window tint was measured and determined to be too dark. The juvenile was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Theft — Eric Permenter, 34, Courtland Street, Jackson, was arrested on an outstanding capias after he called the law to report a female friend had stolen money from him.
Officer Jason Artymovich filed a report stating MPD responded to a report of money theft at a residence on Ruth Street. Permenter stated a female friend stole $160 from him. Police searched the female and found only $4 in her possession. However, a computer check revealed Permenter had an outstanding capias warrant for Public Intoxication. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Hit and Run — Officer Matthew Cunningham is investigating a hit and run incident on April 11 that occurred on Carroll Street.
Tyler Proctor said he was backing into his driveway when a Chevy Malibu sped along Carroll Street and struck the front bumper of his pickup truck as he was backing into the driveway. He and passenger stated it was a white female driving with a white male passenger in a beige Malibu. MPD is seeking additional information as they attempt to identify the driver.
Violation of Order of Protection — Raymond D. Boyd, 68, Spruce Street, McKenzie was charged with Violation of a No Contact Order after he reportedly phoned and came ‘by’ the victim’s house, all on April 11 and 12. The original order of protection was signed on March 24. A warrant was signed against Boyd for Violation of No Contact Order.
Runaway Juvenile — McKenzie Police Department issued a report to the Department of Children’s Services and other agencies about a runaway juvenile after the juvenile male’s mother reported him missing from their Walnut Circle residence.
Officer Jason Artymovich reported the boy’s attire and that he was carrying three big bags. However, the juvenile returned home that evening and the missing person report was canceled.
