From the Apr 9, 2024 e-EditionJuvenile Arrested With Guns, Drugs — A juvenile was arrested on April 2 and charged with Carrying a Weapon on Campus (Bethel), Simple Possession and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon after a traffic stop around 6:30 p.m.
Sergeant Cody Coleman was dispatched to the area of Cherry Avenue to be on the lookout for a Chrysler 300. He stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 22 and 124.
There were three individuals in the vehicle. Officer Coleman said he could smell marijuana. After interviewing the subjects, he conducted a pat down on one subject, on which he was retrieved a bag of marijuana and a handgun. A second handgun was located in the glovebox. A computer search revealed the Glock was stolen out of Memphis.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail. He was charged with Simple Possession Schedule VI, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
Driving on Suspended License — Fourth Offense — Shawn Tyrone Roy, 53, Birmingham Lane, McKenzie was charged with Speeding, Simple Possession, Tampering with Evidence, and Driving On A Suspended License after a traffic stop on April 3.
Officer Sean Beck stopped Roy’s vehicle for speeding in a residential area. After stopping the vehicle, he learned Roy had prior offenses of driving on a suspended license. Recovered was a baggie of one gram of marijuana and a glass pipe, commonly used for smoking meth. He was transported to Carroll County Jail. Upon arrival at the jail, Officer Beck found an additional item in the back seat where Roy was seated. It was believed to be ecstasy pills. Roy was held without bond.
Controlled Substance, Window Tint — Titus J. Gordon, 45, Dresden was charged with Illegal Window Tint and Sale/Delivery of a Controlled Substance — Schedule VI on April 1.
Sergeants Cody Coleman and Kyle Beauchamp both observed a blue Crown Victoria with excessive window tint. The vehicle was stopped and the officers reported smelling marijuana. They recovered three bags of a green-leafy material believed to be marijuana. It weighed 85 grams.
Gordon was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Public Intoxication — Michael A. Webb, 30, Walnut Avenue, McKenzie was charged with Public Intoxication on April 1.
Sergeant Cody Coleman was dispatched to Walnut Circle, the federal housing project, where Mr. Webb was running and out of a house and yelling, causing concern of the neighbors. A juvenile sneaked out one of the windows in the home to get clear of Webb. Mr. Webb was arrested for his and the public’s safety.
