From the May 13, 2025 e-EditionDriving on a Suspended License — Derontra Antonio Byrd, 26, Cherry Avenue, McKenzie, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Expired Registration on May 11. Officer Dustin McClure stopped Byrd’s vehicle because it had a non-functioning brake light. A check of his license status revealed a suspended license and expired registration. He was additionally charged with a Light Law violation and violation of Financial Responsibility. He was cited into Carroll County General Sessions.
Leaving The Scene of an Accident — LaFrancio Diton Linder, 40, of Georgia, was charged with Leaving The Scene with Property Damage and Failure to Immediately Report an Accident on May 8. Officer Daniel Pollard responded to the area of the Best Western hotel on Highland, where Landon Miller of Ashland City stated his vehicle was damaged. A surveillance camera at the motel recorded that Linder’s semi-truck struck Miller’s parked Tundra pickup and then Linder moved his vehicle. Linder was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
Driving on Suspended License — Timothy Scott Hickey, 36, Brighton, Tenn., was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Expired Registration on May 11. Officer Dustin McClure reported he was aware of Hickey’s license status and initiated the traffic stop. Hickey was cited into Henry County General Sessions Court.
Driving on Suspended License — Cameron Adam Kovar, 27, Leander, Texas, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Speeding on May 7. Officer Dustin McClure clocked Kovar’s vehicle traveling 63 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone. A check of Kovar’s license revealed the suspended status. He was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
Natural Death — Brian K. Watson, 43, Winchester Street, McKenzie, was determined to have died of natural causes after family members discovered him lifeless at home on May 4. Officer Kyle Beauchamp, EMS, and fire department personnel all responded to the scene. The family members said he had undergone recent surgery and had also sustained a recent fall. The preliminary investigation indicates a death by natural causes.

Recovered Property — On April 9, Deputy Verner recovered a firearm that had been located on top of a trash can at a residence on Clarksburg Road after a Republic Services driver reported finding it.
