From the Sep 16, 2025 e-EditionDrug Charges — Anthony Dalton Young, 32, Jackson, was arrested on September 4 with drug charges.
Deputy Daniel Thomas initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup truck in Leach after observing it cross the center and fog lines. Young was identified as the driver.
According to the report, deputies noted nervous behavior from both Young and his passenger. Deputies deployed K9 Abby for a free-air sniff, and the K9 alerted to the passenger-side door area. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a pill bottle hidden between the driver’s seat cushion and center seat. Inside the bottle was $280 in cash along with two small baggies: one containing approximately 2.5 grams of methamphetamine and another containing approximately five grams of THC.
After further questioning, the passenger produced additional contraband from her person, including a half-smoked blunt, a small baggie with about one gram of suspected methamphetamine, a nail file, and a lighter. She admitted Young had instructed her to conceal the items in her bra.
Young was taken into custody and charged with possession of Schedule II with intent to distribute and simple possession of Schedule VI.
Theft — On September 6, Deputy Heather Townes responded to a larceny call at a business on West Main Street in Trezevant.

According to the report, Ellis became agitated, yelled at the deputy to leave, and threatened to kill him. When backup arrived, Ellis continued to refuse commands to show his hands and made movements suggesting he might have a weapon. As deputies advanced, Ellis spun toward his vehicle and appeared to throw something inside.
Corporal Smith deployed a taser, and Ellis was taken into custody. Ellis was transported to Carroll County Jail and charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and public intoxication
