From the Aug 5, 2025 e-EditionPossession of Schedule II Drugs — According to a report on July 25, Deputy Bongiovanni initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Power Station Road in Trezevant on a Red Honda motorcycle. The driver, Cory Dunbar, 37, of Huntingdon, was exhibiting unusual and nervous behavior when the deputy was speaking to him. Cory had admitted he did not have a driver’s license and said he had just been working on his motorcycle at a friend’s house. Dunbar had a backpack on him, and the deputy asked for consent to search when Dunbar said yes. In the backpack, a white baggy with meth was found inside, there was more inside his wallet, and a cigarette pack also had drug paraphernalia inside. Dunbar was charged with drug possession and taken to Carroll County Jail.
Possession of Weapon — According to a report on July 25, Deputy Jeremy Smith was patrolling Northwood Drive in Huntingdon when he observed a gray Nissan Altima approaching at a high rate of speed, nearly striking the patrol vehicle. Huntingdon police officers also observed the same vehicle drive through and had it pull over. Once on scene, the passenger, Justin Hedge, 32, of Camden, jumped out of the vehicle and said he was checking for a flat tire. He was instructed to get back in the car, and he stated he was “a free man, and checking on a flat tire.” Deputies asked the driver, Lacey Hedge, 27, of Camden, for identification, and Justin Hedge told her not to give it to the officers. He was then arrested for obstruction. Ms. Hedge stated she was driving fast to get to Sharon, Tennessee to a friend’s house. She was arrested for reckless driving. During a search, Mr. Hedge was found to possess black brass knuckles in his jeans pocket.
Aggravated Assault — According to a report on July 27, Deputy Coleman responded to a domestic assault in Bruceton. Two witnesses explained to the officers that Wesley Walters, 32, of Bruceton, attacked his wife by grabbing her by her throat. His wife had red marks around her neck, so Mr. Walters was arrested for domestic and aggravated assault.
Domestic Assault — According to a report by Deputy Jeremy Smith, he received a call about a domestic disturbance at Clyde Rd. John Joyner, 48, of Huntingdon, answered the door to the home and stated that he and his wife had just had a verbal argument. After listening to the wife’s side and a young witness, it was found that Joyner had struck his wife in the head and was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Aggravated Assault — According to a report by Deputy Bo Ezell, on July 28 the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Atwood regarding a domestic. The victim stated that her ex-boyfriend, Jason Samples, 54, of Atwood, had kicked her door in and choked her on her bed and tried to hit her current boyfriend. Deputy Ezell found Jason driving around and asked for consent to search his vehicle, which he gave consent, and found drug paraphernalia inside and rifle bullets. Samples is a felon and not allowed to have firearms or ammunition. He was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, and possession of drug paraphernalia and transferred to Carroll County Jail.
Public Intoxication — According to a report by Deputy Alex Sherwood, on July 29, deputies were called out to Old Lavinia Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The defendant, Kory Wilbert, 32, of Milan, was seen in public heavily intoxicated from alcohol. He had difficulty maintaining his balance, slurred his speech, and was a danger to himself and others. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication.
Harassment — According to a report by Deputy Sean Bongiovanni, on July 29, Carroll County deputies were dispatched to Hwy 77 in Huntingdon in reference to a possible violation of a no-contact order. After meeting with the victim and looking at all the proof, Stephen Moffler, 35, was given arrest warrants for Violation of No Contact Order and Harassment.
