From the Mar 17, 2026 e-EditionDrug Paraphernalia Charge — On March 5, Deputy Scott conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle fail to maintain its lane. While speaking with the driver, the deputy detected an odor similar to marijuana, and the driver admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier.
Consent was given to search the vehicle. During the search, a glass pipe with white residue commonly used for smoking methamphetamine was located beside the passenger seat. The passenger was identified as Anthony Copeland, 52, of McKenzie.
Copeland was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Disorderly Conduct Arrest — On March 10, Deputy Jayden Flaurr responded to a disturbance involving Hunter Brown, 19, of Huntingdon, after a resident reported a male subject had pulled into the driveway yelling and making threats over tools he believed had been stolen.
The resident told deputies Brown had arrived at the residence yelling, cursing and accusing him of taking tools.
Brown left the area but later drove aggressively up and down the roadway several times before returning to the residence and continuing to yell from the driveway. Brown then left again, picked up a friend from his grandmother’s house and returned to the residence, parking across the road and shining a spotlight toward the home.
When Deputy Flaurr arrived, Brown was pulling back into the driveway and appeared to be attempting to contact the resident again. Brown was detained and questioned and stated he believed the resident had taken his tools after seeing some that looked similar to ones reported missing. The tools described were chrome and were not located on the property.
The resident told deputies he had recently been released from the hospital and could not have taken the tools. The resident also reported Brown had been acting erratically and not like his usual self. Brown denied any current drug or alcohol use but acknowledged having a history of substance use.
Brown was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported to the Carroll County Jail without incident.

Harassment Investigation — On March 10, Deputy Scott responded to a complaint regarding unwanted contact. The complainant reported that Jerry Morefield, 33, of Dresden had come to his residence earlier in the day after being advised not to return.
The complainant also reported that Morefield had been sending repeated messages and continuing to contact him and his girlfriend after being told to stop.
An investigation into the harassment complaint was conducted.

Felony Warrant Arrest — On March 7, Deputy Ezell and other deputies went to a residence in McKenzie in an attempt to serve a felony arrest warrant on another individual.
While inside the residence, deputies observed Samuel Jewell, 30, of McKenzie, who was also known to have active felony warrants. Multiple firearms were observed inside the residence during the incident.
Jewell was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants.
