Shoplifting — According to a report made by Officer Jonathan McDowell on December 22, he responded to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifting complaint. The security officer, Joe Lowe, stated Kimberly A. Smith, 51, stole a Rapunzel dress valued at $21.95. The defendant returned to the store and said she would pay for the item taken, but she was still advised to report to the Carroll County Jail within 10 days for booking for shoplifting.

Driving under the Influence — According to a report made by Officer Jonathan McDowell on December 21, he and patrolman Malek Cannon were notified of a wreck located on Buena Vista within the city limits of Huntingdon. The driver, Caleb Balentine, 19, had a strong odor of alcohol. Balentine admitted to drinking prior to driving and appeared highly intoxicated. The defendant was operating a motor vehicle on Buena Vista Rd. when he ran off the roadway and struck a ditch, causing the Ford Ranger to flip onto the passenger side. Balentine was out by ambulance then sent to Carroll County Jail.

Criminal Impersonation, Evading Arrest, Simple Possession — According to a report made by Officer Kristen Lee on December 22, she observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street West, so she conducted a traffic stop at Murphy’s gas station. Upon contact, the defendant was argumentative, so Officer Lee asked him to step out of the vehicle. The driver, Laderrick Means, 26, said he did not have a driver’s license and initially gave the wrong information about himself to Officer Lee. Dispatch confirmed that Means had warrants and his license was revoked. Laderrick was getting handcuffed by Officer Lee but then took off running on foot through the ditch by Veterans Drive going toward Huntingdon Liquor and Wine and jumped into a stream of water. Officer Arline and Inman chased him, and Officer Inman placed Laderrick in handcuffs and transported him to Carroll County Jail. Marijuana was also found inside the vehicle along with three other occupants.

Driving with no license, Unregistered Vehicle — According to a report made by Officer Jonathan McDowell on December 17, he and Officer Daniel Inman were patrolling on East Main Street when they noticed a black sedan driving westbound without a front bumper or tag. They turned around to make a traffic stop. The driver, Ralph Dennie Jr., 20, admitted to not having a license, registration, or proof of insurance to drive a vehicle. He was issued a citation and advised to go to the Carroll County Jail to be booked within 10 days to receive a court date.

No Driver’s License — According to a report made by Officer Jonathan McDowell on December 16, he arrived on Highway 22 in a single-vehicle accident. Upon investigation, it was determined that the defendant didn’t have proper identification or proof of insurance. The driver, Carla Yoslen Gonzalez-Padilla, 31, was cited into General Sessions court.
