From the Apr 8, 2025 e-EditionSimple Possession, Driving on Revoked — On March 24, Patrolman Richardson observed a vehicle swerving on Lexington Street. The driver, Lamarcus Young, 27, was acting erratic and under the influence of substances. Mr. Young was asked to exit his vehicle for a field sobriety test in which he performed poorly so he was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. The vehicle was searched and a scale with white powder residue was found that tested positive for cocaine and small Ziploc plastic bags were found. It was also later confirmed he was driving on a revoked driver’s license.
Simple Possession, Driving on Revoked, Speeding — On March 19, Patrolman Jonathan McDowell was on patrol on Lexington Street when a van was seen traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver, William Hickerson, 39, was speaking very fast and stated he was trying to pick up a family member due to a wreck occurring out of state. He did not have a driver’s license and had one marijuana cigarette. He was given a citation and had 10 days to book in Carroll County Jail.
Driving on Revoked — On March 21, Officer Arline observed a vehicle running a stop sign on High Street. The driver, Eric Ford, 54, informed the officer his license was suspended. This incident marks his fourth offense of driving while suspended. He was given 10 days to book into Carroll County Jail.
Reckless Driving — On March 21, Sgt. Tony King witnessed a vehicle on Highway 22 traveling at 92 mph in a 55 mph zone. The vehicle also didn’t have the correct license plate. The driver, Eric Poole, 20, stated the tag was from his grandmother’s vehicle and he couldn’t give accurate proof of owning the vehicle. He was arrested for reckless driving and cited for driving an unregistered vehicle.
