From the Sep 16, 2025 e-EditionAggravated Assault — Deon M. Matthews, 43, Everett Street, McKenzie, was charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault on September 6.
Officer Daniel Pollard filed the report that stated Matthews assaulted his female friend and others at a residence on Walnut Circle.
The original victim phoned 911 and asked for help as she stated her boyfriend had been drinking and would not leave the area of her apartment. She locked Matthews outside and he fled and hid when officers arrived.
The dispatcher alerted officers that Matthews had active warrants for Violation of Probation for Reckless Endangerment With A Firearm. The officers watched the area and then departed.
Shortly after their departure, Matthews returned and climbed through a bedroom window, assaulted the victim in the house, and then on the front lawn. She phoned 911 as she was being attacked, and the 911 operator could hear the assault. The assault left visible bruising on her face. Officers found the victim in the house, lying on the floor. Several bystanders witnessed the incident. Again, Matthews had fled the scene into a nearby wooded area.
She was advised to leave the area with a friend, with whom she felt comfortable. She told officers she was good, and they stayed in the area.
When officers left, Matthews again entered the victim’s residence, assaulted her and two additional victims. His assault had bloodied the original victim. Again, Matthews fled and hid. MPD assisted the victim and got her medical assistance. MPD and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department deputies searched for Matthews. Officers pursued Matthews on foot and set up a perimeter to apprehend him. When he was arrested, he complained of pain to his right hand.
The original victim had contusions, a broken nose, and possibly broken ribs.
Domestic Assault — Kimberly L. Boyd, 19, Holmes Mill Road, Huntingdon, was charged with Domestic Assault on September 9.
Officer Austin Jones arrested Boyd and transported her to Weakley County Jail after she and a family member had argued. Boyd is accused of kicking the family member.
Drug Paraphernalia — Shannon M. Patey, 41, Linden Heights, McKenzie, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Medication Without a Prescription on September 12.
Sergeant Cody Coleman stopped a vehicle for failure to obey a stop sign. The driver appeared nervous and denied consent to search. Sgt. Coleman deployed his canine officer, that alerted on the vehicle, creating probable cause for a search.
The officer found a grinder containing marijuana residue, a glass pipe, and a pill bottle with no label containing several different pills.
The driver was warned about the traffic violation and Patey was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
