Public Intoxication — Ritesh Bhikhabhai Patel, Imperial Drive, Florence, Ala., was charged with Public Intoxication on March 3.

Officer Billy Burson responded to the report of a male individual, later identified as Patel, who had a head injury and was unsteady on his feet. Officer Burson reported Patel smelled strongly of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. Officer Burson cited Patel into Carroll County General Sessions, and Patel was transported to the Carroll County Jail.

Burglary — Samuel L. Jewell, Hinkledale Road, McKenzie, and Devin L. Sawyers, Magnolia Avenue, McKenzie, are suspected of Aggravated Burglary and Theft Over $1,000<$2,500.

On November 25, 2025, Officer Matthew Cunningham reported a burglarized home wherein the victim had multiple items stolen including a firearm.

On February 22, 2026, Officer Kyle Watkins of the Dresden Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Jewell and Sawyers. The individuals gave Officer Watkins consent to search the vehicle, and Officer Watkins located the stolen gun reported on November 25.

Jewell reportedly worked for the victim before and at the time of the November 25 burglary and had access to her personal residence as a handyman.

The two individuals were transported to Weakley County Jail with the following charges: Possession of Stolen Property (theft), Driving on Suspended License (Sawyers only), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Jewell only) and a Seat Belt Violation (Jewell only).

Based on this information and with the consent of the ADA of Carroll County, Sgt. Inv. Kyle Beauchamp reported he will file charges (warrants) including Aggravated Burglary ($5,000 bond each) and Theft Over $1,000<$2,500 ($2,500 bond on each) against Jewell and Sawyers. This report was made March 3, 2026.
