From the Feb 4, 2025 e-EditionDomestic Assault — Darren D. Washington, 24, Main Street, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault and Aggravated Assault on January 29.
Officer Matthew Cunningham took a report from a female victim, who said she was Washington’s girlfriend. After an argument, she left the premises and then returned to retrieve some items. She stated Washington came down the house’s steps toward her car with what appeared to be a gun and beat on the top of the vehicle. She immediately left the residence and drove to the police station. Washington was arrested. He was already on probation for a previous domestic assault conviction.
Driving on Suspended License — James T. Baker, 46, Webb Street, Whiteville, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility and Violation of Window Tint Law on January 30.
Officer Dustin McClure observed Baker’s vehicle with the excessive window tint and made a traffic stop. A check of Baker’s license revealed the suspended status. He was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
Stolen Firearm, Expired Registration — Kenyale Cliff, 21, Trenton Highway, Humboldt, was arrested on January 27 for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Display of Plates, Expired Registration, and Violation of Financial Responsibility.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Cliff’s vehicle for inoperable lights on the registration plate. The officer smelled marijuana and conducted a search when he found a stolen handgun. Cliff was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Failure to Appear, Violation of Probation — Stacy Mann, 42, White Street, McKenzie, was stopped on January 31 after the officer observed her driving and knew of the outstanding warrant.
Officer Dalton Raspberry made the traffic stop and was taken into custody on the charges of Violation of Probation and Failure to Appear. A family member was allowed to retrieve the automobile.
Driving on Suspended License — Jennifer L. Thompson, 41, Porter Street, Paris, was charged with Driving on Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Display of Registration Plate on January 29.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Thompson because of a green light was illuminating the license plate. A check of her license indicated those were suspended for failure to pay fine. She was charged as noted and cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.
Dogs Running at Large — Stephanie E. Harris, 41, Cherry Street, McKenzie, was charged for allowing Dogs to Run At Large on January 29.
Officer Dustin McClure responded to a residence in which a dog killed 10 chickens. Animal Control captured the dog and transported it to the city pound. Harris was cited into General Sessions Court.
Harassment — Erik Schieman, 42, Field Street, McKenzie, was charged with Harassment on January 29.
Schieman’s ex-wife notified Officer Justin Brister that Mr. Schieman continued to text her and follow her despite her request for him not to do so.
