Driving on Suspended License — Kody Michael Rust, 24, Mount Zion Road, Gleason, was charged with Driving a Suspended License, Window Tint Violation, and Following Too Closely on March 23.

Officer Dustin McClure stopped the vehicle because the window tint looked too dark and the vehicle was following too close to the one in front of it. A check of Rust’s license revealed the suspended status. He was cited into General Sessions Court.

Driving on Suspended License — Second Offense — Leonel Alejandro Pena, 24, Blackburn Road, McKenzie was charged with Driving on a Suspended License-Second Offense, Violation of Light Law, and Violation of Financial Responsibility on March 22.

Officer McClure stopped Pena’s vehicle because it had a broken taillight and learned of the suspended license and lack of insurance. Pena was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.

Driving on a Revoked License —  Second Offense — James G. McMullin, 51, Florida Court, McKenzie, was charged with Driving on a Revoked License for a Prior DUI Conviction -Second Offense, No Helmet While Operating a Scooter, Lack of Registration, No Registration Plates, and Violation of Financial Responsibility on March 18.

Officer McClure stopped McMullin’s scooter and made the above charges. McMullin was arrested and the scooter was impounded.

Driving on Suspended — Devon Starling, 24, Lee Street, Martin, was charged with Driving on Suspended License, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Violation of Window Tint on March 17.

Officer McClure stopped Starling’s vehicle on suspicion that the window tint was too dark. The driver was charged as noted above and cited to Carroll County General Sessions Court.

Public Intoxication — Thomas Augustus Harris, 70, Highland Drive, McKenzie was charged with Public Intoxication and Failure to Appear on an outstanding warrant on March 17.

Officer McClure was dispatched to McClure Street, where Harris was lying on the side of the road and intoxicated. He was arrested for his personal safety and transported to Carroll County Jail. An outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear was active from Weakley County. He was held for Weakley County authorities.

Simple Possession — Logan Riley Singleton, 22, Old Union Loop Road, Paris, and James W. Singleton, 49, of the same address, were charged after their pickup truck was stopped for speeding on March 22.

Officer McClure stopped the truck driven by Logan Singleton for speeding. Officer McClure smelled marijuana and found roaches of marijuana in the vehicle. The passenger, James Singleton, had an active warrant for Violation of Probation from Henry County. James was arrested and Logan was cited into court.

Domestic Assault — Jose Ismael Funes-Garcia, 38, Paris Street, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault on March 20.

Officer Bill Burson was dispatched to the Paris Street address, where a female victim claimed Funes-Garcia punched her in the head. The victim stated the assailant was intoxicated. Officers attempted to interview the assailant, who refused to answer their questions. He was transported to jail.

Domestic Assault — Noah G. Lozano, 21, Pillowville-Gleason Road, Gleason, and Lelia Madison Wilkerson, 21, Field Street, McKenzie, were both charged with Domestic Assault on March 21.

Officer Matthew Cunningham was dispatched to Highland Drive to a parking lot where a lady stated that Lozano and L. Wilkerson had assaulted her after she had a verbal altercation with the two assailants. Video surveillance revealed the assault and Lozano and Wilkerson were both transported to Carroll County Jail.

Theft — Daryl Ross, 66, Reynolds Street, McKenzie, was charged with Theft on March 22.

Sergeant Cody Coleman responded to E.W. James Supermarket, where a store associate said he confronted Ross about the theft. Ross left the store and drove away. Details of the car and tag number were provided and officers were able to locate him. After questioning, Ross was charged with theft and advised that he was banned from again entering the store.

Public Intoxication — Trevor Jamar Willis, 30, Paris Street, Huntingdon, was charged with Public Intoxication on March 22.

Officer Bryan Batchelder was dispatched to a McKenzie industry where Willis reported to work while intoxicated.  Company officials wanted police there when they terminated Willis’ employment. Willis was then transported to jail for Public Intoxication.

Criminal Trespass — Maurice Lawrence, 32, a homeless man from McKenzie, was twice charged with Criminal Trespass on March 19 and 23.

Officer Darren Davis responded to a convenience store, where Lawrence is banned from the property. Lawrence was twice transported to Carroll County Jail.
