Driving on a Revoked - Third Offense — Christopher Ryan Howard, 29, Highway 54, Paris, was charged with Driving on a Revoked License Due to DUI - Third Offense, Simple Possession or Casual Exchange, and Resisting Arrest, Window Tint Violation, on April 10.

Officer Dustin McClure observed a vehicle with dark window tint and initiated a traffic stop. Howard jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot. Other officers and a canine searched for him without success. The vehicle was impounded. Inside were illegal narcotics. Officer McClure said a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage was inside the vehicle as well as an open container of an alcoholic beverage. The vehicle was impounded.

Later in the night, McKenzie stopped a Toyota RAV with dark window tint. The driver attempted to speed up during the attempted traffic stop. Once stopped, Officer McClure observed a rear-seat passenger trying to partially hide his face. It was Christopher Howard, who had escaped apprehension earlier in the night. Howard was charged as noted above and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Theft of Merchandise — Timothy G. Chappell, 58, Buck Ditch Road, Huntingdon was charged with Theft of Merchandise and also arrested on an outstanding warrant on April 10.

Officer Matthew Cunningham was dispatched to Pocket’s convenience store, where the manager said he observed a man take a bag of ice and a 12-pack of sodas from the front deck outside the business. The manager described the subject and vehicle license number. Officer Cunningham went to the subject’s residence, where Chappel admitted to the incident. Chappell was arrested on an active warrant for Failure to Appear.

Vandalism/Theft — A resident of Walnut Circle reported that someone had written on her patio on April 10. One time it was ‘boo’ and another time it was indistinguishable. The resident said in a previous week her son’s bicycle was stolen. On April 7, the resident reported her son’s mountain-style bicycle. It had been chained to a clothesline pole behind the residence.

Dog Running at Large — Sean B. Beasley, 25, Morris Street, McKenzie, was charged with Dogs Running at Large on April 9.

Officer Matthew Cunningham was dispatched to Barksdale Avenue, where a resident stated a black dog had attacked and killed four chickens. The officer found the dog and a carcass. Animal Control captured the dog and took it to the city pound. Mr. Beasley admitted it was his dog and was cited into General Sessions Court.
