McKenzie Police Reports
From the Jul 30, 2024 e-EditionDomestic Assault, Resisting Arrest — A McKenzie juvenile was taken into custody on July 23 on charges of Resisting Stop, Halt, Frisk, two counts of Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Vandalism.
Officer Darren Davis said MPD was dispatched to West End Avenue, where a juvenile was disorderly on the front lawn. He had reportedly assaulted two persons inside the home, broken a window, and then refused to obey police and attempted to avoid arrest.
The juvenile was transported to Huntingdon for evaluation at Baptist Hospital. He was also charged with damaging a police car.
Domestic Assault — Christopher M. Hughes, 37, Euclid Avenue, McKenzie, was charged with Domestic Assault, Aggravated Assault, and Interfering with an Emergency Call on July 23.
Officer Matthew Cunningham filed the report indicating he and two other officers responded to Euclid Avenue, where Hughes had reported assaulted a female and threw an object at her and prevented the victim from phoning 911. Officers stated the victim had physical evidence of an assault. Hughes was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Driving on a Suspended License — Eddie Horton, 54, Main Street, McKenzie was charged with Failure to Yield to a Stop Sign, Driving on a Suspended License, and Violation of Financial Responsibility on July 26.
Officer Dustin McClure reported Horton failed to stop at a stop sign giving cause for the traffic stop. That led to the other charges. Horton was cited into court.
Driving on Revoked License — DeMarcus M. Robinson, 34, Hamilton Street, McKenzie was charged with Driving on a Revoked License - Second Offense, Violation of Financial Responsibility, and Violation of Display of Registration.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Robinson’s vehicle because the lights on the license plate were not illuminated. That led to the other charges. He was arrested and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
Driving on Suspended License, Speeding — Donnal Jean Watkins, 68, Oklahoma City, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Speeding on July 28.
Officer Bryan Batchelor clocked Watkins’ vehicle at 81 in a 55 zone. A check of her license revealed the suspended status.
Driving on Suspended License — Antoine K. Williams, 52, Acme Cove, Memphis, was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, Improper Display of Registration, and Light Law on July 28.
Officer Dustin McClure stopped Williams’ vehicle for a non-functioning brake light. A check of his license revealed the suspended station. Williams was cited into General Sessions Court.
Outstanding Warrant — Rhonda C. Flowers, 49, Bridgeman Street, Huntingdon, was arrested after she was a passenger in an automobile that was stopped for not having working taillights.
Officer Matthew Cunningham stopped the vehicle and then learned the passenger, Flowers, had an outstanding warrant in Henry County. The driver was released with a verbal warning to correct the lighting violation.
Outstanding Warrant — Billy Borum, 51, Everett Street, McKenzie was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Violation of Parole in Weakley County on July 24.
Officer Darren Davis was alerted Borum was walking on Cedar Street and had gotten into an automobile. Davis stopped the vehicle, issued a verbal warning to the driver for expired registration, and arrested Borum.
Counterfeit Money — A local business accepted a suspected counterfeit $100 bill. Officer Matthew Cunningham took custody of the possible counterfeit currency as evidence.
Harassment — A Hillview Apartments resident claimed two females and one male in their mid-20s in age had harassed her by knocking on her windows, shouting obscenities at her children, and her car was spit upon several times.
The resident has video footage from a surveillance camera to provide to police.
Officer Tanner Jackson took the report. MPD is investigating, but no charges were filed.
Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Trespass — Clinton Hoard, 37, McKenzie was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass on July 24 after an incident at a local restaurant.
Officer Tanner Jackson filed the report indicating Hoard entered the restaurant, was disorderly by yelling and made several patrons in fear for their safety. Hoard was located in the city and arrested in relation to the incident.
Aggravated Assault — Brian Patrick Steele, 43, Hinkledale Road, McKenzie, was charged with Aggravated Assault on July 25.
According to a report by Timothy Dillon, two men were enlisted to repossess Steele’s vehicle, but Steele refused to cooperate, jumped in the vehicle, and drove away, putting one of the men in fear for his safety as the car approached him.
Warrants were issued for Steele, who had not yet been arrested.
