From the Oct 15, 2024 e-EditionPublic Intoxication — Nicholas Jerome Simmons, 43, of Huntingdon, was arrested for public intoxication on October 3 according to a report made by Deputy Heather Townes. Deputies answered a call in Atwood regarding a man being in the yard beside his house acting strange. Upon arrival, the defendant was lying on the ground in the caller’s yard rolling around making incoherent statements and continuously moving around in an uncommon fashion. He appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
Interference with Emergency Calls — Nathaniel Anthony Jackson, 18, of Atwood, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and interference with emergency calls on October 3 according to a report made by Deputy Thomas. Units were dispatched to Trezevant for an active fight going on between the caller and his grandson, Nathaniel. Roger and Nathaniel were in an altercation over a vehicle. Nathaniel became aggressive so Roger went to call the police when Nathaniel started hitting him and interfering with the call. Roger screamed for help and Nathaniel finally backed off so Roger could call the police. Nathaniel was arrested.
Burglary/Breaking and Entering — According to a report on October 4 by Deputy Townes deputies were called to the Post Office in Atwood regarding three P.O. boxes being broken into overnight. Postal inspector Darryn Riggs was on scene upon arrival to make a report as well. Three P.O. boxes were damaged. No arrests have been made.
Drug/ Narcotic Violation — According to a report on October 7, Deputy Townes backed a traffic stop on Veteran’s Drive in Huntingdon. The driver, Mack Napier, 35, of Jackson, appeared very antsy and did not want to take his hands out of his pockets. Napier admitted there would be some things in the truck. In his pockets he had a meth pipe, and in the truck, he had a small black bag with multiple baggies of meth that weighed 21 grams. The deputies were also given permission by Mack to search for his phone before being transferred to Carroll County Jail.
Drug/Narcotic Violation — Jacob Shawn Saulters, 25, of McKenzie, was arrested for possession of schedule II (meth) with intent, simple possession of schedule VI, and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a report made by Deputy Chance Townes, he initiated a traffic stop on a silver Cobalt for failure to maintain lane. Deputy Chance Townes recognized Jacob for prior incidents and knew he had an active warrant for the sale of methamphetamine. Saulters stated he had items in his pants pockets, which was a meth pipe and a small bag of marijuana. There were three baggies of meth totaling 41.6 grams.
Aggravated Assault — Kyren Wesley Gipson, 19, of Bruceton was charged with domestic assault, aggravated assault, underage consumption of alcohol, and unlawful possession of a firearm while under the influence according to a report made by Deputy Grant Davis on October 4. Justin Searatt called the sheriff’s office regarding the offender (Kyren) becoming aggressive and agitated while speaking with his mother. The victim stated that Kyren began blaming him for himself not having a job. He said that they started fighting and Kyren threatened him. He said after this happened, he saw Kyren grab a white AR-style weapon and walk towards their vehicle in the driveway before he left. The officers were able to arrest Kyren without incident and transported him to Carroll County jail.
