Vandalism — According to a report made by Deputy Alex Sherwood on December 26, 2024, he was dispatched to a residence in Yuma in reference to tires being slashed. The complainant, Gideon Gooch, advised that an unknown person came on his property and slashed two tires on his truck. The vehicle was owned by his father that resides at the same residence. Gideon couldn’t think of anyone who would be upset enough to slash his tires.

Violation of No Contact Order — On December 29, 2024, an ex-wife phoned the Sheriff’s office reporting her ex-husband had violated the no contact order by texting her in a group chat with their children. Stephen Moffler, 35, of Huntingdon, was arrested for contacting his ex-wife.

Critical Infrastructure Vandalism — On December 30, Brad Moore, field, services associate manager with TDS telecommunications, called to report around 17900 Highway 114 Buena Vista a 125-foot section of phone and internet cable was cut and stolen. There were two cables, both around 125 feet each with estimated value of $6,496. Labor and materials for replacement had an estimated cost of $12,527.25. It appeared that the defendant threw paracord with a large magnet attached across the cable to pull them down within reach to be cut. The paracord, magnet, and headlamp were recovered from the scene.
