Drug Charges — On October 29, deputies conducted a traffic stop that led to multiple drug and weapons charges against Anthony Ronald Turner, 32, of Huntingdon.

Deputy Alex Sherwood initiated the stop after observing a vehicle fail to maintain its lane of travel, crossing solid double yellow lines while making a turn. Turner was found to have a suspended driver’s license out of Gibson County.

During a pat-down for weapons, brass knuckles were located in Turner’s right rear pants pocket. Turner consented to a search but became physically resistive when the deputy checked near his waistband. He was assisted to the ground and taken into custody for resisting arrest.

A further search revealed a small plastic container containing meth residue. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Turner admitted to destroying meth. A small amount of meth was also located in the rear seat of the patrol vehicle following transport to the jail.

Turner was charged with possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine), Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Driving on a Suspended License and Resisting Arrest.

Theft of Property Over $1,000 — On October 30, deputies responded to a report of a theft in progress after a witness observed a man removing greenhouse materials from a property located at 20200 Highway 22.

The witness told officers he saw a white male with a white beard loading parts of a greenhouse into a red Ford F-150. After confirming with the property owner that no one had permission to remove the items, the witness reported the theft.

Shortly afterward, Chief Deputy Joel Pate observed a truck matching that description, traveling along Old McKenzie Road with what appeared to be greenhouse parts protruding from the truck bed. That was the last known sighting of the vehicle and stolen materials.

The victim estimated the missing greenhouse components at approximately $3,800 in value. Some metal poles from the structure remained in the ground at the scene, apparently too difficult for the suspect to remove.

The incident was documented by deputies.

Domestic Assault, Weapons, and Drug Charges — On October 31, deputies responded to a domestic assault in progress at 570 Paw Paw Lane, McKenzie, involving Rae Dawn Hollowell, 18, of McKenzie, and Keandre Tyrece Johnson, 25, of McKenzie.

Dispatch advised that a male subject at the residence was armed. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Johnson, who was found in possession of a Glock 9mm handgun. Johnson stated that Hollowell and her mother had been in a physical altercation following a verbal argument and that he had fought another family member after witnessing him strike Hollowell. He told deputies he did not point the firearm at anyone and had only moved it because he knew law enforcement was coming.

The mother reported that, after hearing an argument between Hollowell and Johnson, she told them to stop. She stated that Hollowell assaulted her, leading to a physical fight between them, and that Johnson attacked her son when he attempted to break up the altercation.

After interviewing all parties, deputies determined that Hollowell and Johnson were the primary aggressors. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County Jail.

During the investigation, Hollowell allowed deputies to enter her room to retrieve the firearm. While in the room, deputies observed a marijuana pipe in plain view and located approximately two grams of marijuana and additional paraphernalia in a drawer. The Glock pistol was found under the mattress.

All items were recovered by investigators with the McKenzie Police Department at the request of CCSO Investigator Dennis Adkins.

Domestic Incident — On November 1, Deputy Paul Williams responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital’s emergency department for a report of a possible assault involving Ronald N. Smith, 33, of McKenzie.

Upon arrival, Deputy Williams spoke with a woman who stated that the previous night she and Smith had been out drinking when an argument began after she became upset with him for talking to a bartender. She said that, after returning home, the argument continued, and she later blacked out. When she came to, Smith was holding her down.

She reported shoulder pain and sought medical treatment.

Deputy Williams later contacted Smith, who stated that his girlfriend had struck him in the face several times while they were driving home. He said that he stopped the car to prevent further assault and later restrained her again after she hit him in the face with a cell phone. Smith reported that he slept on the couch afterward and gave her medication for shoulder pain the next morning.

Smith advised that he planned to gather his belongings and leave for his mother’s home in Gleason. No charges were filed at the time of the report.

Possession of Methamphetamine — On November 5, Deputy Alex Sherwood conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple light law violations. The passenger, Charlie Anthony Davis Jr., 30, of Atwood, was found in possession of methamphetamine during a search.

During a pat-down for weapons, Deputy Sherwood detected what he recognized as a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance in Davis’s left front pants pocket. When asked about the item, Davis voluntarily removed a small plastic bag containing approximately 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, along with a cigarette wrapper containing an additional half gram, totaling about three grams.

The substances field tested positive for methamphetamine. Davis stated he “didn’t know that was in there.”

This incident occurred in Carroll County.

Drug Paraphernalia Arrest — On November 2, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a residence on Highway 105 in Trezevant.

Deputies located a white Chevrolet Camaro at the scene and made contact with a man, later identified as Clinton Dale Mann, 41, of McKenzie, who was walking out from behind the residence holding a flashlight and a hatchet.

Deputies instructed Mann to set the hatchet down and conducted a pat-down for weapons. During the search, deputies located a pipe in Mann’s jacket pocket, which, based on their training and experience, was identified as a type commonly used for smoking illegal narcotics.

Mann was taken into custody for unlawful drug paraphernalia and possession without prescription.

Fraudulent Bank Activity — On October 30, a Trezevant resident reported to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office that her bank account had been fraudulently used.

The victim provided printed statements from her bank showing four counterfeit checks drawn from Navy Federal Credit Union. Two checks, issued under the fraudulent names Lindsey and James Zaremba to Sarah Wagner, and two more from Sue and Ron Goodman to Jamie Uhles, were each written for $950. All four checks used the victim’s routing number and were cashed at a Regions Bank in Texas.

The victim advised that she had looked into the listed addresses and found they corresponded to houses currently for sale in Texas. The bank confirmed she would be reimbursed once a police report was completed.

The incident was documented by deputies and remains under investigation.
