From the May 7, 2024 e-EditionTheft of Property — Mr. Lloyd Bateman reported his trailer was stolen. The trailer is a 16-ft double axle trailer with white wheels. The trailer is black and had two or three broken or missing boards in the floor. He valued the trailer at $1,400.
Aggravated Assault — Logan Gantt, 22, of McKenzie, was arrested for Aggravated Assault. On April 27, the victim called the police and said that her husband, Gantt, had choked her and a friend had stepped in and was fighting Logan so she left and went to a church on Old Stage Road. When officers arrived, the victim had red marks on her throat and said the back of her head was hurting. When officers went to the home on Lisa Lane, they arrested Gantt for domestic assault and possible aggravated assault by strangulation. A witness at the scene confirmed he saw Gantt choke the victim.
Theft of Livestock — Benjamin Lee of Huntingdon had reported that his three-day old calf had been stolen out of his pasture. A dark colored SUV parked at his cattle field and stole the calf. He posted the calf on Facebook and offered a reward for the return. The next day on April 29, Lee stated that he got a phone call around 1 a.m. from a blocked caller that his calf was returned to the pasture. Mr. Lee asked for the name of the caller since he had put a reward for the return of the calf and the young man on the phone said he didn’t want the reward or any trouble.
